Paintings, Drawings and Prints
Jan Mankes (1889–1920), often referred to as “Holland’s most tranquil painter”, is regarded as one of the Netherlands’ most beloved artists. His oeuvre of around 200 paintings, 250 drawings, and 50 prints is characterised by stillness, simplicity, and an almost mystical attentiveness to his surroundings. With a restrained palette, he painted still lifes, landscapes, animals, and compelling self-portraits in Eerbeek and De Knipe.
