About the Gallery
This website offers more than works of art for sale. It also features background stories on artists, developments in the art market, new discoveries, and auction news, offering insight into both the collection and the way I approach art.
As an art historian (MA), I combine academic research with the day-to-day practice of the art trade. I advise collectors on the acquisition and sale of exceptional works of art through private sales, brokerage, and personal guidance. I also write the column Notes from the Art Trade for Tableau Fine Art Magazine, where I explore remarkable finds, forgeries, and the often unexpected journeys required to uncover the history of a work of art.
A Glimpse of the Collection
The collection brings together paintings and drawings for sale by Dutch masters, Scandinavian painters, French Impressionists, and petits maîtres from across Europe, with a particular focus on the period around 1900.
The collection is shaped first and foremost by my personal taste, while remaining attentive to demand within the art market. I have a particular affinity for (self-)portraits, oil sketches, and studies from nature, as well as for idiosyncratic artists whose distinctive visual language defies easy classification within a single artistic movement. The collection includes paintings, and works on paper spanning Impressionism, Symbolism, Naturalism, Romanticism, Expressionism, and Cubism.
These are artists with a certain je ne sais quoi: those who felt themselves to be outsiders, restless painters driven by an insatiable desire for adventure, pioneering women whose work remained overlooked for far too long, and brilliant talents taken too soon, such as Carel de Nerée tot Babberich, Jan Mankes, and Christjern Schobius.
