Additional information:

Sárika Góth was a talented artist who grew up in a family of painters. She was the daughter of Maurice Moritz Góth and Ada Lowith, both painters. Born in Vienna, she grew up in Budapest, Paris and Zeeland.

In 1924 Sárika Góth studied with the French Cubist and art theorist André Lhote. Under Lhote she studied the principles of Cubism and developed a strong foundation in abstract art. Her work shows clear Cubist influences, with geometric forms, bold lines and an interest in representing several perspectives within a single subject. Nevertheless, her work always remained figurative. Góth held her first exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam in 1925. After her studies in Paris she lived alternately in Amsterdam and Veere. Alongside her work as an artist, she was also an art dealer specialising in antique furniture.
