Additional information:

In this finely composed still life, Anna Egter van Wissekerke demonstrates her mastery of form, texture, and color in a quiet composition that conveys a sense of understated beauty. She arranges a few carefully chosen objects, shells and a small woven basket, in a restrained manner against a neutral background.

Egter van Wissekerke belonged to the circle around art educator H.P. Bremmer, who taught her to look at the inner value of forms and objects. His influence is clearly evident in this work: the everyday is elevated into something timeless and essential. Her attention to detail, the subtle interplay of light and shadow, and the muted color palette reflect Bremmer’s ideas of “spiritual realism.”
